Racing Ready For E-Town
Dallas,
Texas. O4-24-2003- The Quaker State® Honda Civic will make it's
first appearance in the Northeast next weekend at the third round
of the 2003 NHRA Sport Compact national championships. Englishtown,
New Jersey is the venue for one of the most eagerly awaited events
on the calendar.
E-Town is famed for its excellent track conditions and enthusiastic
fans. This combination makes for an event that all of the competitors
are excited about. Kenny Tran is no exception.
"I love coming up to the New York area." He explained.
"The track at Englishtown is awesome and there is always the
possibility of new-records being set in every class. We are ready
to really make some noise in the Hot-Rod class now."

An elusive
ignition problem was finally rectified after the recent NDRA event in
Dallas and indications are that the Norwood-tuned Quaker State® Honda
Civic is running better than ever.
"We figured out that the more powerful ignition system that we installed
this year was creating a lot of R.F. interference." Tuner Bob Norwood
explained. "The interference was picked up by the Motec ECU and caused
some problems with the data that we rely on to dial-in the car. We have
re-configured the system and shielded the ignition to eliminate the problem
and I think we will be good to go now."
The Quaker
State® has been running extremely close to the national record despite
the glitches so confidence is high that the team will be the one to watch
in Englishtown.
"I can't wait to get there." Tran said. "The whole team
has been awesome this year and we have been very happy with the fans response
to the new setup. We will be giving it all we have got to get the win
in New Jersey and show the fans what we are capable of doing. This is
the most exciting year ever in our sport."
"Quaker State® has been great to work with and I feel that their
involvement with the sport is a big plus for everybody. The fans and competitors
are responding really well to what Quaker State® is doing and with
the announcement of the Quaker State® Dyno challenge at the NHRA events
it's just going to keep getting better."
The trip to
the Northeast will be a double-hitter for the Jotech/Quaker State®
team. A Quaker State® Acura NSX will be putting in an appearance at
the Carlisle custom car show in Pennsylvania while the rest of the team
is chasing the first win of the year with the NHRA in Englishtown.
The NHRA Nitto
Spring nationals will take place at the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park
in Englishtown, N.J. on May 3-4th.
The Carlisle Custom Compact Quaker State nationals will take place at
the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Pennsylvania on May 3-4th.
