Jotech/ AC Civic Makes Second NHRA Final Round Appearance In Two Weeks

Oregon Event Sees Trans First Eight-Second Run and Blistering 172 MPH Top Speed.

As the 2002 NHRA Summit national championship title chase starts to heat up with only three events left Kenny Tran solidified his position in the hunt with his second final- round in as many weeks against the Venom Civic of Bruce Mortensen.
Unfortunately Tran was unable to gain maximum points after the Jotech/AC Civic crept through the beams and lit the red-light handing an easy victory to his championship rival.

Despite the final-round problem Tran was happy to have gained valuable points and also run his first eight-second pass.
" Once again the Jotech/AC Civic ran like a champ". Said Tran. " We qualified in a solid third place and took out the championship leader Jo Jo Callos in the first round of eliminations with our best-ever pass at 8.940 @ 172.44 MPH. It was great to run a personal best but more importantly it was crucial to our championship hopes to close the gap on the Castrol Syntec Integra by beating Jo Jo".

Trans Norwood/Palo tuned Civic has been threatening to creep into the eights all season and Tran was ecstatic to break through so convincingly.
" The car was perfect. I knew it was a fast pass because it was pulling so hard. There are very few cars in the Hot-Rod class that can run eights and our speed (172.44mph) shows that we are now making as much power as anyone out there.
With only three events left in the season we are confident that we can move up from third and possibly make a serious bid for the title. All we need is a little luck".

The next event for the Jotech /AC team is at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma California on the 7th-8th September. Englishtown, New Jersey is on October the 5th-6th and finally the season finale at Pomona California on October 26th-27th.

" We are creeping closer and all we have to do is stay focused and do the best we can in the final three events. Said Tran. " Bob Norwood and Tony Palo are doing a great job on the car and it seems to get a little bit better at every event. In fact the whole team have been awesome this year. I can't wait to get to Sonoma; It's going to be a dogfight all the way now and the Jotech/ AC Civic is right in the middle.
