Kenny Tran started his drag racing career in 1997 driving a car
that he had built and formerly sponsored. Since then, Tran has become
mainstay in the NHRA Sport Compact and the NOPI Race Wars series
and one of the most popular drivers in both. With a completely rebuilt
racer, Kenny looks for 2005 to be the best yet.
In 2004 Kenny raced the distinctive Q Honda in his heaviest schedule
ever – 15 national events. He won twice, at Englishtown, NJ and Bristol,
TN, and finished third overall in the NHRA point standings. That was
an improvement over 2003 where Kenny won one event and ended the
season in fourth. He set a new speed world record in Sonoma that year,
with an ET of 8.60 seconds and speed of more than 175 miles per hour.
Tran won two NHRA events in 2002, at Dallas and Gainesville, finished
third in points and was named the World Import Challenge FWD Unibody
Champion. Kenny is also the owner and founder of Jotech Motorsports
Garland, Texas, one of the nation’s most respected import tuning, speed
and custom shops.
